Appropriate padding suggestions will be made when your rug is purchased the pad is treated with MSM-Fresh® to inhibit growth of odor-causing bacteria, mould and mildew, and is guaranteed to damage neither your floor nor your rug for 10 years. to maintain the beauty of your rug, Kaskas Oriental Rugs provides expert cleaning in our Kaskas facility for all types of hand made rugs, including: wools, silks, durries, braided and needlepoint rugs. Pick up and delivery service is available. To preserve their beauty, Oriental rugs should be professionally cleaned, every two to four years depending on the traffic.
The process of cleaning each rug is by the following way: Each rug is thoroughly inspected for wear and stains, vacuumed on both sides to remove all loose dirt, and then we wash the rugs the same way it is done overseas for centuries. We wash alternatively on both sides several times with our exclusive organic shampoo, formulated especially for wool fibers. During each wash cycle, your rug is scrubbed by hand with brushes specific to the rug type. After each wash cycle, the rug is rinsed with cold running water until the water runs clear. Cleaning detail is given to the fringe as well and trimmed “if requested”, along with a final vacuum. ALL rugs are insured. After rugs are cleaned they are hung in a climate controlled dry room where low heat and dehumidified air allows them to dry slowly – without harming the natural lanolin in the wool. Each rug is vacuumed and inspected to complete the process. All rugs are insured. With your carpet purchase, you receive for free a certificate verifying the authenticity of your Oriental rug. Because of our years of experience in the fine handmade rug business, we have the expertise to appraise your rug. We feel it is important to have all your handmade rugs appraised for insurance purposes, just in case your rug is damaged or stolen. Having a picture with each appraised rug is also advisable. During the appraisal of your rug, we take into account its country of origin, size and shape, design, knot density (knots per square inch), type and quality of the pile, weft and warp, and types of dye use. We also determine its market value based upon condition, availability, uniqueness and rarity. The appraisal will be signed and sealed for your insurance purposes.
We will also appraise any Persian or Oriental rug you already own, and provide you with a signed and sealed Certificate of Authenticity. Appraisal charges are minimal, whether performed in your home or in our store.
